Deal of the Week

Have you opened your Home Decorators Collection catalog lately?

I love these high backed slipcovered chairs.  They would make awesome head chairs for a dining room.  What did Emily from Secrets of a Stylist say in her latest episode?  Keep it low profile for casual and high profile for drama?  I think this is the perfect blend...high profile for the formality of a dining room (or, why not a kitchen?) yet slipcovered for that casual feel.  I am a sucker for grey, but the close-up view online looks questionable, almost velvety. I'm curious.  If anyone buys this, let me know how it looks.

Deal of the Week

This weather is making me want to go for a bike ride.  All the kids in this town have really cool beach cruiser/old school wheels.  Some have drink holders, others are decked out with bumper stickers.  Now I know how they can afford it:

Much better than the $399 version at Urban Outfitters and don't get me started on the $$$$$ other options.  Yikes!  This makes me very happy.  Now we just have to figure out where to store it where it won't get stolen :(

Deal of the Week

Passing fad or fab staple, whatever your theory is on the cowhide rug, you can have the look for less.  I looked at the IKEA selection last month and they were all too dark for me.....black and deep browns.  I was so happy to finally find light grays and tans at my local World Market yesterday (colors are better at the store than they are online).

Brazilian Cowhide Rug | World Market

I think it would feel better under Quinn's soon-to-be mobile knees than the current sisal roughness.

World Market ships, but it is better to pick these out in person.

Deal of the Week

Ballards, Burlap, Bargain....B-A-N-A-N-A-S

I did a cost benefit analysis on this and it is better to purchase these than for me to make them.
$20 in fabric + sewing + lining (more money) + headaches = not worth saving $20.

Fringed Burlap Panel

Need a simple, classic, affordable way to spruce up your windows?  Ballards is having a great sale on their burlap panels.  108" for $39!!  I don't like the fringe so ordered a longer length so I can just cut them off.  This is a great way to switch things up without making a huge color and financial commitment.  I'd love to be bold and go with a colorful pattern, but don't want to drop the cash on something I'm not sure I'll love.

Someday, I'd like to do a makeover like the "Den Do-Over" featured in Southern Living last month.

Fireplace

The online article doesn't show the "before" photo of the living room like the magazine does.  It was dark and boring.  I love how the drapes and throw pillows really livened things up.  For now, I'm sticking with neutrals to maintain that beachy, classic look.  Install with photos to come.......

Deal of the Week

Don't gag.  I'm posting about a diaper deal.  Some of you must be moms and I have to help a girl out when I can. Think of all the home improvement projects you can afford with these savings!

I always go in to Target with intension of heading straight to the baby section and to the checkout, but end up spending more money on the cute tshirt/candle/workout pant.  My best girlfriend recently turned me on to the Amazon subscription discount and I'm sold.  They were delivered to my door in a day!  $0.14 per diaper people!

Save an extra 30% with Subscribe & Save and Amazon Mom:Get the standard 15% discount when you sign up for Subscribe & Save delivery. Combine that with an additional 15% savings exclusively for Amazon Mom members on select diapers and wipes, and this item's current price drops to $28.00 ($0.14 / count) . Deal of the Week

For you Cyber Monday shoppers, I thought I'd start off the week with a deal for you.  I hope you had a great holiday weekend!

I've always loved Alan Campbell's Zig Zag fabric, but not the price tag.  I had bookmarked this similar fabric and finally got around to ordering a sample to compare the two.

Unfortunately, I only have the regular "Zig Zag" and the sample should be more appropriately compared to the "Petite Zig Zag".  You can kind of get an idea of the difference in the images below.

Zig Zag

Petite Zig Zag

My two sample pieces

Alan Campbell's is a beautiful blend of 55% linen / 45% cotton while Alexander Henry's Zig Zag is 100% cotton.  The Zambia also has tiny turquoise dots scattered over the zig zag.  If you can get past that, the much cheaper version would be a great impostor for throw pillows or window dressings.

I also think this would be a fun DIY:

Deal of the Week

Who doesn't need a cute tote?  I have a bit of a bag obsession and it is not meshing well with motherhood and the diaper bag.  But, this could double as both.  I love the leather handles, inside pocket, and zipper closure.  Not to mention the crown.....

25th Anniversary Crown Tote

Happy 25th Anniversary Ballard Design!  Thank you for offering this limited time sale. This would make a great holiday gift.  Bring it to the hostess filled with wine or homemade candy.  Stock it with eco-friendly products for a subtle hint to your unPC friends.   Stuff it with CO Bigelow lip gloss, Fresh Brown Sugar Body Cream, and Origins Charcoal Mask for your sister/mother/daughter for under the tree (hint, hint).

Deal of the Week

This does not go with my color scheme nor am I much of an animal print lover, but I like this look and wish I could use it in my home.....

VT Interiors has a great library of inspirational rooms and you can copy this look with this bench from World Market.

Repeat Deal of the Week

Yes, yes I talk about these Moroccan poufs all the time......and I finally bought one!  I was so excited to see Gold as an option when I searched Overstock today.  I was looking for white, which they have, but I love me some metallic.

Leather Contemporary II Ottoman (Morocco)

Hmmm......maybe I should order the white, too?

Only a few left in stock.  Go buy it now if you really want one.

Deal of the Week

This is not necessarily a "deal", although it saves you from flying to Kathmandu and searching the markets.

I was over at Elements of Style last week and fell in love with the elephant door handles featured in a New York Times article about Melanie Brandman's little fishing retreat.
I quickly rushed over to Ebay and punched in "elephant door handles" and much to my surprise found a large selection to choose from.  I can't wait to get them in the mail!!

Deal of the Week

Morocco is tops on my travel list.....if only to buy lots of rugs and poufs.  Moroccan decor may be a fading fad, but it will always be tops in my book.  I just love the bohemian vibe it gives off.

Wouldn't you love to go to a summer dinner party like this?:

I especially am in love with the Moroccan pouf or pouffe.

One can easily incorporate this little gem into everyday decor:

Here is a pouf  in a nursery, courtesy of my very talented friend Ashley Hope.  She is a photographer and new mom in Atlanta for those of you looking for a jack-of-all-trades artist.  She has shot babies, weddings, interiors, fashion shows, you name it, and manages to perfectly capture the moment in any setting.  I think she should add interior designer to her skills because her ability to layer old and new pieces always blows me away.

So, how much do poufs cost?

You could find them at John Derian for $285 (metallic $325)

You could find them at Tazi Design for $225 (free shipping)

or , may I present: Proof That You Can Afford Pouf......

You can find them at Rocket St. George for $186 (including international shipping) - Go to the bottom right corner of the page to change the currency to your country.

Where would you put your pouf?

Deal of the Week

I have not been taking many photos of the house renovation project because I don't think much is happening.  But, I also have thought the same about my belly for the last few months and I know that is not true......so, I promise to be a better blogger. (Thanks, Diane, for calling me out)

To help with the (sometimes) daily posts, I've decided to add a "Deal of the Week"  to the line-up.  I know you are all frugal shoppers, especially in this economy, but it never hurts to get a free tip every once in awhile.

I've already made you privy of the Farm Sink on ebay, but I'll share another find this week.  It may not be appropriate for you all, but you just never know who is in the market for a new crib and mattress.

I've fallen in love with the Jenny Lind DaVinci 3-in-1 convertible crib seen everywhere from Land of Nod (not currently listed on site) to CSN Baby for $267 (original price $446.98!) to Target for $199.  I was almost enticed my a craigslister who was selling hers (with mattress, blah) for $250.  I was no fool.   No siree.  After a little more digging, I found the exact same one (NEW mind you) at Walmart for $149 INCLUDING a mattress AND free shipping.  Magic to my ears.

I am digging the white for now, but would love it in black or even gold a la Erika at Urban Grace.  We just have to see what comes out......I'm bidding on a changing table that ends soon so cross your fingers.
